The rock free expansion testing instrument is suitable for determining the expansion properties of rocks containing easily water-absorbing and expanding minerals in their natural state, such as clay rocks. This test is the ratio of the radial and axial deformation produced by the specimen after water immersion to the diameter and height of the specimen, expressed as a percentage.
